The much hyped horror flick 'Charulatha', inspired by Thai cult film 'Alone', hit the screens on September 21. The movie made in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, has Priyamani playing the role of conjoined twins. The film, which revolves around conjoined sisters Chaaru and Latha, is a rare combination of horror and romance.
Brought up by their widowed mother, the sisters never dream of separating, till Love enters their lives. Ravi falls in love with the demure Chaaru and Latha is not happy with that. Things take a dramatic twist when the mother is left with no option but to have them separated surgically. Latha doesn't make it.
Chaaru moves to London and is all set to tie the knot with Ravi. The day their mother gives her consent to the marriage, the ghost of her dead daughter begins to haunt her and she is hospitalized. Chaaru rushes back to India and Ravi follows. Her sister's vengeful ghost starts to haunt her too. Ravi believes Chaaru is imagining the ghost and takes her to a psychiatrist friend. Later he too starts feeling the presence of the ghost which leads to a nail-biting climax.
Produced by Ramesh Krishnamurthy and Yogesh D, 'Chaarulatha', directed by Pon Kumaran has Skanda playing the role of Ravi. Rest of the cast include Saranya, Seetha, Ravishankar, Aarthi and master Ganesh. Music is by Sundar C Babu. M V Panneerselvam is the cinematographer.
