Centre allots Rs 536 crore for NRHM in state
Follow us:WhatsappFacebookTwitterTelegram.cls-1{fill:#4d4d4d;}.cls-2{fill:#fff;}Google NewsUnion Minister of State for Power K C Venugopal has said that the Central Government has granted Rs 536 crore to the state through the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). He was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Ammayum Kunjum’ project of the NRHM, at the Women and Child Hospital near the beach here, the other day. “The amount was granted to construct new buildings and other amenities in hospitals in the state. ‘Ammayum Kunjum’ is part of the NRHM’s Janani Suraksha Project. The officials should be aware of the project and they should ensure that the benefits of the project reach the right persons. The project will benefit all pregnant women across economic lines without discrimination,” the minister said. “Under the project, the state government will get 253 ambulances. The hospital development committees will evaluate the functioning of the project and they will inform the District Collector about its progress,’ he said. The minister asked the government servants to have a positive attitude towards the beneficiaries of the project. “Since the service provided are totally free, there is a possibility that some of the staff might behave badly to the patients. They must understand that the project will be implemented with the taxes paid by the public. So the servants should treat them politely,” he said. Alappuzha municipal chairperson Mercy Diana Macedo presided over the function. DMO K M Shirabudheen, Collector P Venugopal, Medical College superintendent T K Suma, municipal councillors Thomas Joseph, Sathee Devi, Preethi Sajeevan and M M Sherif; NRHM programme manager L Manoj, RCH officer Deepthi and Women and Child hospital superintend Usha Devi spoke.first published:August 27, 2012, 12:22 ISTlast updated:August 27, 2012, 12:22 IST
