Celebration time at counting centre

CHENNAI: By the time the first round of results began filtering out to the waiting cadre outside the DAV high school in Mogappair, one of the counting centres for the local body elections, the AIADMK cadre began celebrating.Though most would consider it premature to think Chennai was in the bag when Mayoral candidate Saidai S Duraisamy was only about 10,000 votes ahead at 11 am, the cadre from other parties, notably the DMDK and the DMK, moved to the opposite side of the road. When a procession was begun with the Ambattur ward councillor candidate, fireworks et al, the opposition moved further and further away.
