Thiruvananthapuram: Following the strict dress code the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has banned all religious items for the All India Pre Medical Test being held on Saturday. A nun in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala had to bear the brunt of the same when she was not allowed to take the exam as she was wearing a veil and wooden cross.
The nun claims that she was at the exam centre by 8 am and was ready for a body check but the authorities at the school said that she cannot write the exam with her veil and her cross on. She was wearing a wooden cross in a black chain on her neck.
The court in its order issued on June 15 had cancelled the AIPMT examination held on May 3 following the leak of the question paper and circulation of the answer keys through electronic devices across 10 states in the country. It had observed that the exam was rendered "futile by a handful of elements seeking to reap undue financial gain by subjecting the process to their evil manoeuvres".
After Supreme Court ordered CBSE to conduct the re-examination in view of large-scale cheating, the board had issued a dress code relating to examinations. It had asked all candidates and their parents to ensure strict compliance for the exam.
The candidates have been asked to wear light clothes with half sleeves shirt/T-shirt/kurta. The notice has also asked candidates to ensure that there are no big buttons, brooch or any badge. Coming to footwear, the students have been barred from wearing shoes and will be only allowed to give examination in open slippers.
