New Delhi: The heat on Commonwealth Games Organising Committee, whose members are under the scanner of various investigative agencies, is likely to increase as CBI could register more cases in connection with alleged irregularities in holding the sporting extravaganza.

The agency, which has already registered three cases naming some top OC officials, is looking into more complaints of alleged instances of corruption in the run up to the Games, official sources said.

The complaints include those sent by the Central Vigilance Commission, the sources said. The next FIR in connection with the Games could be in the multi-crore overlays contracts awarded by the OC at allegedly exorbitant rates, they said.

The overlays contracts are already under the scanner of both the Income Tax department and the Enforcement Directorate. The IT department has already conducted two rounds of national level searches in connection with the overlays contracts.

While CBI had earlier registered two cases in connection with the Queen's Baton Relay held in London last year, on Tuesday, another FIR in connection with alleged irregularities in a Rs 107 crore contract with a Swiss time-keeping company was lodged.

The total value of the overlays contracts run to about Rs 800 crore.

Earlier, in reply to an RTI query, the anti-corruption watchdog had said it had found alleged irregularities in the sale of VIP passes, installation of fitness equipment and appointment of placement broker and manipulation of tenders

floated by different government, civic and construction agencies in New Delhi.
