Call for unity among Hindus

Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy has called for unity among Hindus, compulsory learning of Sanskrit and resisting materialistic globalisation. He stressed these key points while delivering the keynote address at the closing ceremony of the week-long Ananthapuri Hindu Congregation at Putarikandam Maidan here on Wednesday evening.

Swamy said the need of the hour was for ‘Virat Hindus’ who would unite and retaliate against any wrong-doing. Everyone, including people of other faiths, must accept that they were descendants of Hindus, he said. ‘’There is no meaning in numbers unless we can develop a united mindset,’’ he said.  “A thousand goats may be together but they would still run from one tiger. Similarly, a thin ringmaster can control five full-grown lions at the crack of a whip because they have been taught to obey,” he reminded.

Swamy called for the promotion of the Sanskrit language stating that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the US had, after years of research, found it to be the most computer compatible language and were using it to develop  Artificial Intelligence. ‘’We will soon reach the stage where Indians will have to learn Sanskrit from foreigners,’’ he said, adding that Indians have an inferiority complex and are unable to accept anything unless the West proves it first.

Swamy bemoaned that globalisation was making Indians very materialistic.

‘’According to Sanadhana dharma, materialistic development and spiritual growth are supposed to occur side-by-side but what we have these days is material growth,’’ he said. ‘’It is our minds that are under attack today. This will destroy our society.’’

Among those who attended the function included Kerala Women’s Commission former chairperson D Sreedevi, Krishnanand Saraswati of Sree Ramadasa Mission, Mumbai and P Ashok Kumar, Working Chairman of Ananthapuri Hindu Congregation.
