BrahMos-NITT MoU likely by mid-May

TIRUCHY: The MoU between the BrahMos and the NITT for research in hypersonic materials and processes for hypersonic brahmos is likely to be signed by mid-May.The MoU would enable engineers and scientists from BrahMos to pursue post-graduation and PhD programmes at NITT and in return, the BrahMos would support a research park that would be set up at the Tiruchy institution. The key areas of MoU include research on smart and functional materials for hypersonic Brahmos missile, high temperature coating technology and innovative welding for electronic packaging and quality management.  Besides, it has identified Robotics as another area of interest for collaboration and has also placed a request with the BrahMos for setting up a centre at the NITT as a first of its kind in TN. “Of the various areas of interest listed and signed by the BrahMos and the NITT, electronic packaging and surface engineering were already inaugurated by professor Ramaswamy, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology and the third on aerospace materials and processor groups was inaugurated by Banerjee,” said N Srinivasan Sundarrajan, Director, NITT.
