New Delhi: Illusionist David Blaine has begun another endurance challenge – hanging upside down for 60 hours from a height of 44 feet.
The 35-year-old was hoisted by his heels over the Wollmann ice rink in New York on Monday.
He intends to remain there until Wednesday despite doctors' concern about the effect of the stress on his internal organs and blood circulation.
Blaine, who has made a name for himself by pushing the limits of what humans can endure, will abstain from eating and sleeping for the duration of the challenge but will drink fluids.
He will also be able to zip around freely while upside-down to talk to those who want to visit him.
His previous stunts include spending 72 hours encased in ice, seven days underwater and 44 days without food in a glass box.
Blaine's doctor, Ronald Ruden, who has advised him on all of his challenges said he was particularly concerned about blood clots and blindness.
The challenge ends on Wednesday night with a two-hour special airing on ABC called David Blaine: Dive of Death.
