Maoists and BJP are closely working in Chhattisgarh to serve each other's purpose, Congress alleged on Wednesday seeking to step up pressure on Chief Minister Raman Singh to resign in the wake of the audacious attack on party leaders that left 27 dead.

Maoists and BJP are closely working in Chhattisgarh to serve each other's purpose, Congress alleged on Wednesday seeking to step up pressure on Chief Minister Raman Singh to resign in the wake of the audacious attack on party leaders that left 27 dead.

"Does the Chief Minister feel that he can absolve of his responsibility after the action against the Superintendent of Police, IGP and Collector?", party spokesman Bhakt Charan Das said posing more questions for Raman Singh.

Keeping up the offensive against the Chief Minister, he asked whether it was not a fact that the failure to provide security for the Congress Parivartan Yatra was due to "total lapse" of the state intelligence?

He said if this was so why action has not been initiated against the state intelligence chief who has been a "trusted" officer of the Chief Minister?

Besides, he wanted to know from the Chief Minister whether it was not a fact that the state Home Minister was "powerless" to take any actions as the Home Ministry was being run by Raman Singh along with the intelligence chief.

"The Chief Minister should quit accepting his responsibility", Das said adding the "failure" on the part of the Chief Minister to respond to any of the charges of Congress in the wake of the May 25 incident had further "exposed" him.

When told that Congress was making a serious charge of collusion between Chhattisgarh unit of BJP and Maoists, he said "there is substance in our charges and we are making them forcefully".

Das, who has been for long AICC Secretary in charge of Chhattisgarh, dismissed speculation suggesting that the incident occurred due to collusion of some state party leaders with the Maoists.

"There is no need to raise such type of questions as Congress had been the hardest hit by the incident", he said.
