BJP denies Varun Gandhi LS ticket
Varun Gandhi's entry in politics has been delayed as he has been denied a ticket for Vidisha constituency in MP.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Though Varun may have tried his utmost to look like a natural entrant into the Sangh Parivar, his efforts have still not yielded the results that he wanted to see. His best attempts to contest the Vidisha Lok Sabha seat on a BJP ticket have failed.

Varun faced a tough challenge from Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan who wanted the ticket for his wife Sadhna Singh. But the nomination went to a third leader.

"For Vidisha, we have nominated Rampal Singh, a minister in the Madhya Pradesh government," says BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley.

So what has gone wrong? Two years ago, when Varun Gandhi entered the BJP, many thought that his political growth would be at the same speed as his famous cousin, Rahul Gandhi.

However, apart from some photo ops with top RSS and BJP leaders, not much seems to have gone in his favour.

Yes, Atal Bihari Vajpayee may have emerged as his strong supporter, but that's where his support stops within the BJP.

Says Madhya Pradesh BJP President, Satya Narain Jatiya, "After considering everything, Rampal Singh has emerged the most popular local leader and thus he was given the ticket."

And on his part, Rampal Singh is convinced that he is the better candidate.

Rampal Singh, BJP candidate, Vidisha, "It's not about being happy or unhappy. It's the constituency that matters. The party will stay together in good or bad times though I am sure that I will win."

Varun Gandhi thought that by knocking at the doors of the bigwigs in the BJP, he would be able to push forward his case.

Now, with the BJP denying him a ticket, a big question mark has been put on Varun's utility in the party even though he cannot be written off just yet and this might not really be the end of the road for him.

What's your reaction?
