Gaya: One CRPF jawan was killed and 13 others were injured, when Maoists blew up a mini-bus carrying them in Gaya district on Tuesday evening.

The ultras had planted a landmine on the route taken by the security personnel, police and CRPF, in Imamganj-Dumaria area during an anti-naxal operation, Director General of Police PK Thakur.

"The landmine exploded when the mini-bus came over it. All of the injured have been brought to a Primary Health Centre in Dumaria," he said. "Two of the 13 injured are very critical with head injuries. The others are also in serious condition. We are making efforts to shift them to Gaya town," Thakur said.

CRPF DIG Chiranjeev Prasad said it was an IED that exploded near a place called Nandai on Imamganj-Dumaria Road killing Head Constable Gulab Yadav. The CRPF personnel belong to the CoBRA battalion, engaged in anti-Maoist operations in the state, he said.

"There was heavy force mobilisation in the wake of an encounter in the vicinity yesterday. The Maoists had planted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the route on which the forces were moving. One of our mini-bus carrying our jawans was hit by the blast," Prasad said.

"The force moving through the area also came under fire from the Maoists after the IED was triggered. Senior officials are taking stock of the situation," Prasad said. Additional forces have been rushed to the area, Thakur said.
