HYDERABAD: In what is claimed to be India's biggest cycling event with a social edge, over 5,000 riders are expected to participate in The Republic Ride to be organised by the Atlanta Foundation here on January 26 to raise awareness and funds for the education of underprivileged students.There will be rides for distances of 100 km, 50 km, 5 km and 10 km. "We began with 189 riders in 2009 and, today, have the participation of 2,000 plus riders," Deenanath Harapanahalli, chairman and founder of Atlanta Foundation, told reporters here on Monday."The ride is open to all who are willing to pay an enrollment fee of `850, which will go towards the fund for education of underprivileged childreni,'' he said.The cycling event will be organised in collaboration with NASSCOM, ITsAP, TiE, AMCHAM and Hyderabad Visitors Convention Bureau (HVCB) and a number of corporate companies.
