THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Tuesday’s general strike was by and large peaceful in the city except for two isolated incidents of violence. In the first incident, a Bolero jeep was damaged at Statue when an alleged strike supporter hurled stones at it on Tuesday morning.The police who were stationed nearby immediately nabbed Gopi, 60, a resident of Rajaji Nagar near here.The accused who was taken into custody was later released. According to police, the arrested person was an active member of CITU. The second incident of violence occurred near DHS office near General Hospital. Three suspected strike supporters damaged 13 two-wheelers parked in the compound.The police suspect the act to be the handiwork of strike supporters. Cases have been registered against three unidentified persons in connection with the incident.
