Bhanwari Devi's husband seeks isolation in jail
Bhanwari Devi, posted as an auxiliary nurse at a sub-centre in Jaliwada village in Jodhpur, went missing on September 1, 2011.

Jodhpur: Missing nurse Bhanwari Devi's husband Amarchand on Thursday urged the CBI court to keep him in isolation in the jail as he feared persecution by the three other arrested accused.

Admitting his request, the court directed the jail administration to keep Amarchand away from the three other accused and sent him to judicial custody till January 3.

Shahbuddin, Baldev and Sohan Ram are the other accused who are behind bars in connection with the Bhanwari missing case.

"He is fearing threat to his life in the jail. He might be subjected to threats or manhandling from these accused," Amarchand's counsel Manish Vyas told the court.

The CBI also sought isolation of Amarchand, saying he might be persecuted in the jail by the accused and may be forced to back off from his statements.

The probe agency's move about Amarchand is driven by the possibility of his becoming prosecution witness.

Bhanwari Devi, posted as an auxiliary nurse at a sub-centre in Jaliwada village in Jodhpur, went missing on September 1, 2011.

Her husband had alleged she was abducted at the behest of Mahipal Maderna who was later sacked from the Ashok Gehlot Ministry.

The CBI had arrested Amarchand as he was not cooperating with the investigative agency during questioning and kept changing his statement, leading to suspicion of his involvement in the case.

Two more accused, Sahiram and Bishnaram Bishnoi, are absconding.
