Bengaluru's Stolen Cash Van Found Abandoned, Only Rs 45 Lakh Remains
The driver of the van carrying Rs 1.37 crore allegedly fled with the money meant for Bank of India ATM in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Bengaluru: A cash van, carrying Rs 1.37 crore, was found abandoned in Bengaluru’s Vasanth Nagar area on Thursday, a day after the driver drove away with the vehicle. Cash worth Rs 45 lakh and a gun were recovered from inside the van, which did not have a GPS tracking chip.

The identity of the absconding driver has not been ascertained yet and investigation is still underway, DCP West Bengaluru DCP NM Anuchethm had said on Wednesday.

According to Anuchethm, the incident took place at took place at 1.30pm when the cash van came to the Bank of India branch located on KG Road after collecting cash from two different banks.

The driver of the van drove away with the cash after two employees of the cash logistics firm went inside the bank to inquire if it had any money to deposit and the security guard in the vehicle also stepped out to take a break.

Bengaluru Police has formed four special teams on Wednesday to investigate the incident.
