Police later traced the victim, took a complaint and arrested the accused.
The victim was identified as Suresh, who works as an auditor at a milk product company in Bengaluru, according to a report by India Today.
Two of the five accused, identified as Umashankar and Vinesh, are Suresh colleagues.
“The five suspects have been arrested by police from east Bengaluru. The victim and two of the accused seemed to have been working in the same firm, and the assault was due to a difference of opinion,” Bengaluru police said in a statement.

As per police, during questioning, Umashankar and Vinesh claimed that Suresh used to put a lot of pressure on them.
As per the India Today report, Suresh, who joined the company a year ago, allegedly harassed and demanded that all employees clear the stock balance promptly.
Suresh reportedly complained about Umashankar and Vinesh’s relaxed attitude and delay in clearing the balance to the company’s seniors, who took strict action against the duo.
“Miffed over Suresh’s action, Umashankar contacted a former employee who introduced him to Sandeep, another accused,” police said.
On Umashankar’s direction, Sandeep hired a few goons from KR Puram. He followed Suresh and assaulted him using an iron rod.
“Following a viral assault video, Hennur PS swiftly located the victim, leading to the arrest of five suspects”.
