BELGAUM: For the tenth consecutive day, as many as ten bridges in Belgaum district across the river Krishna continue to remain submerged, due to incessant rains in south Maharashtra and Sahyadri Ghat regions.Eight bridges in Chikkodi taluk and one each in Gokak and Raibag taluks are still under water; traffic has been diverted to other roads.Maharashtra has released 1.46 lakh cusecs of water to the Krishna from its various barrages and reservoirs, while Karnataka to maintain the level in the river has released 1.83 lakh cusecs from Alamatti reservoir. The water level in the Koyna reservoir, the largest in Maharashtra stood at 76.08 TMC on Friday as against its maximum storage level of 77.85 TMC. 21 houses collapsed in Belgaum taluk due to rain.
