Bangkok: One of the oldest Hindu temple in Thailand is gearing itself up to celebrate the ten-day Navaratri festival beginning next week.

Shree Vishnu Mandir in Bangkok will witness puja (prayers) and various other traditional Hindu rituals from October 12 to 21.

The organisers have invited singers from India who will sing religious songs during the festivities and have also planned various other cultural activities, according to information posted on the temple website.

The temple is one of the most renowned Hindu temples in the country.

Hindu Dharma Sabha, an organisation formed by expat Hindus predominantly hailing from Uttar Pradesh, built the temple in 1920.

According to year 2000, figures there are approximately 85,000 Indians in Thailand.
