Auto driver held for plumbers murder

PUDUCHERRY: An auto driver was arrested on Thursday for the murder of plumber Sivakumar (37), a Lawspet resident, whose body was found near a temple here on Wednesday. SP (North) S Ramaraj told reporters that auto driver Chandru, from Muthulingapet in Lawspet, was taking a completely inebriated Sivakumar to his house. On the way both picked up a quarrel inside the auto and Chandru slapped Sivakumar, who fainted. The auto driver continued the journey with fainted Sivakumar, who regained consciousness and attacked Chandru. Chandru then grabbed a beer bottle, which was with Sivakumar,  broke it, stabbed him after which he hit him fatally on the head with a big boulder. The auto driver then dumped the body near the Ponniamman Temple.SP Ramaraj said Chandru was arrested within 24 hours after the incident.
