New Delhi: On Mother’s Day, meet a single mother, who despite all odds made it through to bring up her son.

They share the craziest jokes over the net, the play and cheat over a game of cards and they fight.

"She plays mom and man, both parents for me because of which I understand and respect each and every woman,” says Pallav.

Kanchan has independently brought up her son Pallav since he was six years old.

“With her independence, I learnt about mine and it was a very positive factor for me. She's a great artist, great mom and she knows how to handle work,” he says.

As an artist, earning a living was a Herculean task in the 80s and early 90s, since paintings hardly sold.

But it is her perseverance that kept her going as this is what her mainstay for the family was in the past 11 years.

“I have seen her working hard on each and every painting,” says Pallav.

But what speaks louder than Kanchan's colours is the bond she has with her son despite the trials and tribulations.

“She is my friend forever,” he says.
