Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a 27-year old teacher from Telangana has been arrested for allegedly raping 11 girls aged nine and 10 for two years.
The incident took place in Gopalpet Mandal, Wanaparthy district where the accused used to teach students of classes 4-6 at a private school. He also gave private tuitions to class 4 students.
The horrific crime came to light after parents of one of the children noticed blood stains on the girl’s clothes on Thursday night. The child narrated the whole incident to the family and also told them that she knew another girl who was raped.
Following this, residents of Yedutla village reached the school and ransacked the place. Locals thrashed the teacher and handed him over to the police.
The accused allegedly confessed to having raped 11 minor girls. While few of the victims were students of the school, some attended the coaching classes he used to conduct at his aunt’s house. He allegedly lured the girls on the pretext of helping them improve their exam scores.
He allegedly raped the girls while drunk and manipulated them not to tell their parents anything about the assault.
“He does not remember the names of the girls he assaulted. They used to attend his tuition classes in batches, and this has been happening since 2018. So we don’t even know who those girls are and where they are. As of now, only two of the girls are known,” Kiran Kumar, Wanaparthy Deputy Superintendent of Police, told News18.
The accused is a native of Nagarkurnool district and moved to the village to teach. He also used to conduct coaching classes for class 4 students seeking admission in the state-run Gurukul Residential Schools.
“He used to lure them saying he would use his influence to help them secure admissions and clear exams,” Kumar said.
A case has been registered under sections under Section 376 (punishment for rape), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with the intent to outrage her modesty) and under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The accused is currently lodged in Mahbubnagar jail after a local court sent him to judicial custody.
