AP Bar Council poll on December 30

HYDERABAD: The High Court premises is buzzing with campaigning by the contestants in the election to the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh slated for December 30.There are 68,000- odd voters (advocates) who cast their vote at various courts in the state. According to Bar Council secretary N Renuka, 134 contestants are in the fray for 25 posts of members. Polling officers of the 230 bar associations will conduct the election.Counting of votes will take three to four weeks’ time from the date of commencement of counting on January 19. Voting pattern will be preferential voting. The newly-elected members, at their first meeting, will then elect the chairman, the vicechairman and a member for the Bar council of India.
