HYDERABAD: Extending his support to yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s fast, Lok Satta Party president and MLA Dr Jayaprakash Narayan on Saturday said that the Congress- led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government must vigorously pursue all avenues to bring out black money stashed in foreign banks by elite Indians.Speaking at the protest organised by the Bharat swabhiman and Patanjali Yog Samithi at Gymkhana grounds in the city, Jayaprakash Narayan said that the UPA government must act swiftly as the issue has come under spotlight with the people the Jan Lokpal Bill to check corruption.He said that corruption could be curbed only when laws ensure strict and swift punishment of the guilty with rigorous long-term imprisonment and confiscation of not merely their ill-gotten wealth but their entire property.Pointing out that real estate transactions are one of the primary sources for black money, Narayan suggested that the government rationalize stamp duty to dissuade people from undervaluing property to minimize tax duty.Meanwhile, many supporters of Ramdev Baba thronged the Gymkhana grounds and took up the fast led by G Sridhar, chief state co-coordinator of Bharat Swabhiman.He said they would continue their fast until the UPA government responds to Ramdev Baba’s demands against corruption.Film director Bhadwaja, former chairman of Urdu Academy Rahim Ulkhan Niyazi and others visited the protest camp and extended their support to the baba’s initiative.
