Ailing tiger dies at Mudumalai

UDHAGAMANDALAM: A 13-year old male tiger, which was found lying in a weak condition with wounds at Bokkapuram near Mudumalai Tiger Reserve on Friday, died in the wee hours of  Saturday. “The animal did not respond to the treatment given by Veterinary doctors N S Manohar and Kalaivanan and died around 4.30 am on Saturday. The post-mortem was conducted and the carcass was burnt”, Ramasubramaniam,DFO, told Express. The tiger was taken to Theppakadu camp at Mudumalai for treatment on Friday. Injuries were found in leg and body. Due to ageing, it could not hunt animals to eat and survive.
