New Delhi: Chaos prevailed in the Tamil Nadu Assembly for over 30 minutes, leading to the eviction of all the AIADMK MLAs and suspension of four of them for the entire budget session.

The uproar was created following the remarks of Agriculture Minister S Arumugam against AIADMK founder M G Ramachandran.

Most of the AIADMK members were seen near the Speaker's podium and one of them, V P Kalairajan was seen waving his chappals footwear at the treasury benches.

Trouble began when a remark by the Backward Classes Welfare Minister M R K Pannerselvam against AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa triggered protests from AIADMK members who were on their feet, demanding that the remark be expunged.

Normalcy was nearly restored when Speaker R Avudaippan expunged Pannerselvam's remarks, following Electricity Minister N Veerasamy's request.

However, Arumugam's comments on MGR angered AIADMK MLAs, who were on their feet, protesting the Minister's speech. With tempers running high on both sides, the House witnessed pandemonium.

At this juncture, the Speaker ordered eviction of all the AIADMK MLAs. After the AIADMK members were evicted, the Speaker announced that four MLAs Kalairajan, Jayaraman, C V Shanmugam and Viswanathan would be suspended for the rest of the budget session.
