New Delhi: In what can be termed as a perfect return gift to Pakistan for returning Geeta after 15 long years, the Indian government is set to return the favour. India will send back Mohammad Ramzan, a 15-year-old boy from Karachi who had sneaked into India.
Ramzan's story is very similar to that of Geeta, who returned to India on Monday. He was separated from his mother at the age of 10 when he was taken to Bangladesh by his father. However, subject to torture by his step mother, he crossed over to the Indian side in the hope of finding his mother.
The case gained attention after Ramzan's mother uploaded a video appealing India to return her son. The PMO is now speeding up the process to facilitate Ramzan's return to Karachi.
Speaking through video-conferencing, Ramzan's mother Razia Beghum said that she was trying to trace her son for the past two years.
"He doesnt know anything. I tried talking to his grandma and grandpa in Bangladesh, but they did not respond. Later', I came to know that my son is in India. I ask the people of India to send my son this side. I want my son back. I appeal to the Pakistan government to get my son back", she said.
Ramzan recalled how he sneaked into India. "My mother and father got divorced. My father and I went to Bangladesh where he remarried. In a fit of rage, he once asked me to leave the house. I left home and told the guys near the border that my mom was from Pakistan and my story, they gave me money and helped me cross the border. When I was on a train to Bhopal, a girl saw me crying. After 7 months, I told them I'm from Pakistan. Since then, they have been trying to send me back", he said.
