Panaji: BJP's Rajya Sabha MP and film veteran Shatrughan Sinha said on Sunday that the Aamir Khan should 'apologise' to the people of Gujarat and sort out the matter.
"As a big brother I suggest that Aamir should apologise for his comments on the Narmada issue and Gujarat. He should tender apology respecting people's sentiments," Sinha said.
"He should convince people, have dialogue with them," Sinha added.
Sinha, who chairs BJP's national cultural cell, stated that the anti-Aamir protests in Gujarat is 'not BJP's agitation.'
"It is entire Gujarat's protest at Aamir's stand on Narmada. Democracy has given freedom of expression but it has also give freedom of rejection. People have right to reject," he said.
"If they don't want to watch the film, no one can force them to watch it," he said.
On Gujarat, Sinha quoted findings of Rajiv Gandhi foundation and said the state is number one in development indicators.
"When Aamir talks against Narmada he makes people feel that he is against development," he added.
The veteran actor-turned-politician felt that the film fraternity when expressing their stand on any issue, should do it only after a thorough study of the matter.
"I appreciate Shabana Azmi, she is a real activist. She will always study the matter and then only react to it," he said.
"Some people act as a selective activist," Sinha said without mentioning any name.
