HYDERABAD: The Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY), Hyderabad chapter is holding a series of 25 events under ‘Hyderabad Virasat 2011’ in the city. As a part of this initiative, they organised various Rajasthani performances by Bhutte Khan Manganiar and Group at SilverOaks school, Gachibowli on Tuesday morning, followed by performances at noon in Globaledge school, Madhapur. The performances were a mix of folk dance with great instrumental background score and songs by the group, which threw light on the culture and lifestyle of people in Rajasthan. M Kumar Ashish, a representative of SPIC, Hyderabad chapter, said, “The purpose of organising such events is to expose youth to diverse forms of Indian art and to cultivate an interest in them towards our culture and heritage.” The event witnessed a mass of audience enjoying the performances. Virasat will cater Hydearabadis with Rajasthani art this month and will continue to entertain them with Kathakali art the next month.
