New Delhi: Former Telecom Minister A Raja will appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for questioning on Friday.
Before leaving Chennai, Raja confirmed that he would stay in New Delhi for two days and appear before the investigators.
"I will be going to Delhi. I will be there for 2 days. I will be cooperating with the investigating agency," said Raja before leaving for New Delhi.
The CBI had on Monday sent a notice to Raja to appear before it for questioning in connection with the 2G spectrum scam. Raja was served notice at his official residence under section 160 of Criminal Procedure Code to appear before the agency for questioning. Under this section, the person is asked to join the investigation and share all information that he/she may have about a case.
Meanwhile DMK chief M Karunanidhi has strongly come out in defence of Raja saying the CAG report is not enough proof against him and that losses mentioned in the report were only presumptive.
Trying to deflect attention from Raja, Karunanidhi in a statement in his party mouthpiece Murasoli on Wednesday pointed out that AIADMK leader J Jayalalithaa had challenged CAG reports that went against her government in the past.
Following a call by Karunanidhi senior DMK leaders will hold meetings across Tamil Nadu from December 24, to reach out to people for highlighting various alleged scams during the Jayalalithaa regime.
