SALEM: An eight-year-old boy, who was allegedly thrashed with a wooden log by his neighbour, succumbed to his injuries on Friday.As per police sources, Nagaraj (30) and Udayakumar, both neighbours in Umbilikampatti here, were not in good terms and would often quarrel.On September 28, Udayakumar went to Nagarajan’s house to pick up a fight. As the latter was not at home, Udayakumar turned on Nagarajan’s children, Kaviarasu (11) and Navin Kumar (8), allegedly attacking the boys with a wooden log. Both were admitted to a private hospital in Omalur with serious injuries. Navin Kumar was subsequently referred to the Salem Government Hospital, where he succumbed on Friday. Based on a complaint lodged by Nagaraj, Udayakumar was arrested and charged with the boy’s murder, police s0urces said.
