HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh tops the list of pilgrims from south India for the Amarnath Yatra, who have registered themselves either through e-registration or by submitting written applications at bank registration counters.“1392 pilgrims have registered their names for Amarnath Yatra that will commence on June 29 and culminate on August 13 and all applications were sold out by June 20.The Abids and Pathergatti Jammu & Kashmir Bank branches have finished their registration quota in the last one and a half months,” said ML Sharma, executive manager J&K Bank, Pattergatti branch.He added that all applications were sold out, even though the last date for registration is June 28. From the state, about 850 pilgrims have opted for the traditional Pahalgam route via south Kashmir while 542 people have opted for Baltal route via central Kashmir.“For south Indian states, 3,525 applications were issued by the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board. Out of them, 3185 are already sold out. While Andhra Pradesh has sold out its quota of 1392 applications, Tamil Nadu sold 1237 out of 1500, Karnataka sold 485 out of 650 and Kerala sold 73 out of 323 till June 20,” said Sharma.Over 2.2 lakh pilgrims have secured the Yatra permit across the country, said Abdul Hamid, vice-president, J&K Bank, out of which e-registrations were 45,495.“In states like Andhra Pradesh where all applications were sold out, but pilgrims still want to register their names, can apply through our bank branches across the country or apply through e-registration,” he added.
