12 college students booked for clash

COIMBATORE: In yet another incident of violence in educational institutions here, 12 college students were arrested and remanded after a violent quarrel between two groups on Wednesday. Police said a section of the III year students and II year students of CMS College had a dispute over celebrating Onam in the college.Bopth the groups attacked each other near the college campus on Wednesday. Police said seven of the second year students allegedly assaulted five third year students at Ganapathy around 9.30 am. In retaliation, the III year students attacked the II year students at the same spot around 2.30 pm.Based on complaints from both groups, cases have been registered against 12 students, who have been remanded to judicial custody.
