At least 100 people were feared washed away in flash floods caused by cloudburst at a village near Shimla.
The incident occurred in Ghanvi village, 35 km ahead of Rampur near Shimla.
News agencies report train services on the historic Kalka-Shimla railway line will also remain suspended for at least 10 days owing o bad weather.
"The 96-km Kalka-Shimla track has been damaged on not less than 40 locations and the damage continue due to rain and water flowing down from mountains," Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Ambala, H K Jaggi, who was himself making an on-the-spot assessment, told PTI over phone from Kandaghat in Shimla district.
Himachal Pradesh has been lashed by nature’s fury for the past fortnight. Cloudbursts and landslides have claimed at least 30 lives so far.
