Even former union minister Gopinath Munde was a victim of the road accident as his car was hit by another vehicle at the Prithviraj Road-Tughlak Road roundabout in the heart of the national capital.

New Delhi: Road accidents are one of the biggest killers in India. Over 10 lakh people have been killed in road accidents in India in the last 10 years but the country is yet to have a stringent law on the issue.

The heart of the problem is not just violation of rules or insufficient safety measures inside vehicles but an overall lack of concern for road safety. This year Delhi witnessed 550 deaths in a road accidents till May and in 2014 the toll was 1,725.

Even former union minister Gopinath Munde was a victim of the road accident as his car was hit by another vehicle at the Prithviraj Road-Tughlak Road roundabout in the heart of the national capital. Munde died due to shock and a haemorrophage following injuries to his neck and liver in a road accident in Delhi on June 3, 2014.
