With 18.2 Crore In The Bag, Ram Pothineni-starrer Skanda Off To A Good Start At Box Office
Skanda had a good run at the box office in the Telugu states on its first day of release, despite mixed reviews.

Skanda: The Attacker, directed by Boyapati Srinu, was released at the cinema halls on September 28 and received mixed to poor reviews. Critics opined that there is nothing novel in the film that can entertain the audience. Despite these reviews, the film had a good run at the box office in the Telugu states on the first day of release. It has made a collection of Rs 8.62 crore in Telugu states. Skanda set the cash registers ringing across the regional boundaries as well and earned Rs 18.2 crores worldwide on its opening day. This film has emerged as the highest-grossing opener in the career of Ram Pothineni’s career, who is playing the lead in the film.

Skanda revolves around AP CM Rayudu (Ajay Purkar) and TS CM Ranjith Reddy (Sharath Lohitashwa), who were best friends, till their children decided to elope together. Rudrakanti Ramakrishna Raju (Meka Srikanth) is a tycoon, who has just admitted to crimes he didn’t commit. It’s a way to ensure that his daughter Parineeta (Saiee Manjrekar) remains secure. There is also a student in this film (Ram Pothineni) who loves his classmate (Sreeleela) but doesn’t know who she is. How all these people cross paths forms the premise of the story. Srinivasaa Silver Screen and Zee Studios have produced this film.

Sreeleela had talked about a funny incident from Skanda’s sets in an interview recently. “Ram and I were on opposite sides at the shoot location and I was trying to introduce myself to everyone on sets. He was wearing shades and wasn’t looking in my direction; so he didn’t respond to me. I told him later that I was waving at him saying ‘hi’ before and that he didn’t notice me,” Sreeleela recollected.

She further added that working with Boyapati Sreenu was a learning experience for her. Sreeleela said that this was her first full-fledged commercial film and she was trying to absorb everything she saw. According to Sreeleela, Boyapati ensures that the atmosphere during the shoot remains chirpy, even if they are filming a serious scene. She said that he knows how to get the best performance out of his actors. Sreeleela completed the interview by saying that she has given her 100% to the film.
