The celebrations for the eagerly-waited festival Ganesh Chaturthi started on Tuesday and today is the second day of the celebration. This festival is known for its vibrant decorations and the delicious prasad offered to Lord Ganesha. The devotees in Andhra Pradesh will conduct the visarjan ceremony at Kothapatnam Beach, Ongole City located in the Prakasam district.

The visarjan ceremony starts with the special pooja performed for Lord Ganesha in the respective Ganesh Mandapams. Mandap is a temporary platform set up for marriages or religious ceremonies. The idols of Lord Ganesha are then taken to the nearby shores for the final stage of the visarjan ceremony. Devotees are brought to the shore in vehicles like autos and tractors and finally, the visarjan ceremony is conducted.

The local administration has decided to take up all the security measures for the safety of the devotees. The administration has an idea that a large number of people will assemble at this spot. They have made the appropriate arrangements regarding security before the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

Ongole Traffic DSP Vikram Srinivasa Rao has come up with several important instructions for the devotees going for the immersion ceremony. Vehicles going to Kothapatnam Beach from the nearby areas of Ongolu for immersion are advised not to enter the Ongolu town. These vehicles have been asked to go directly to the Kothapatnam Beach.

Circle Inspector Jagdish, posted in Ongolu’s 2 Town Circle Police Station told News18, “Devotees should not go inside the beach after consuming alcohol and should not violate the rules.” He added that in the background of Ganesh Chaturthi being held at Kothapatnam beach till September 30, a strong arrangement has been made. He further said, “Devotees should park their vehicles in the parking area indicated by the police. Devotees should also cooperate so that no untoward incidents take place during the immersion festival.”

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Ongole also dominated the limelight recently due to the news of 400 women earning their livelihood by selling Patris offered to the lord. Devotees believe that if 101 Patris are presented to Loed Ganesha, their wishes will be fulfilled.
