WC security: England fan incident 'orchestrated'
Police say that the motive of the June 18 incident "was to put World Cup security in a bad light".

Pretoria: A British tabloid journalist has been arrested for his role in what police say was an "orchestrated" attempt to undermine World Cup security.

National police commissioner Bheki Cele says that police arrested the Sunday Mirror's Simon Wright for harboring Pavlos Joseph while police were searching for him. Cele said Wright allegedly booked hotel accommodations for Joseph using false details.

Joseph turned up in the England team's locker room after a 0-0 draw with Algeria, then gave an exclusive interview to the Sunday Mirror.

Cele said Tuesday that the motive of the June 18 incident, "was to put World Cup security in a bad light."

Cele added that Wright had a contract with Joseph for exclusive interviews "after he had made news." The police commissioner promised more arrests.
