Valladolid beat Sevilla 2-1 in Spanish league
Goals by Patrick Ebert and Oscar Gonzalez gave Valladolid a 2-1 win at Sevilla in the Spanish League.

Madrid: Goals by Patrick Ebert and Oscar Gonzalez gave Valladolid a 2-1 win at Sevilla in the Spanish League on Monday. Valladolid began the match looking sharp with fast-paced attacks, and Ebert wrong-footed defender Fernando Navarro and beat the goalkeeper by firing low inside the far post in the second minute.

Gonzalez took his tally to a club-leading seven goals by deftly lobbing goalkeeper Diego Lopez in the 12th minute. Sevilla pulled one back in the 50th when Valladolid's Mateus "Manucho" Goncalves scored an own goal by accidentally heading in a corner. "We knew it was going to be tough," said Manucho. "Now we have to take on Real Madrid on Saturday and it'll be a real battle between lions."

Gary Medel was sent off after earning a second yellow card in the 64th minute for a clumsy tackle from behind on Manucho. "Valladolid played very well in the opening half hour and left us rushing around trying to catch up," said Sevilla coach Jose "Michel Gonzalez.Barcelona lead the standings on 40 points, six ahead of second-place Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid are third place on 29 and Valladolid rose to seventh on 21 points. Sevilla is 11th on 18.
