Sir Alex Ferguson is set to solve his selection dilemma by dropping Cristiano Ronaldo for Manchester United's Champions League clash with Celtic.

Ferguson had been agonising over how he was going to fit Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov in the same line-up for the Scottish giants' visit this week.

The fact that all three got their names on the score-sheet in United's win over West Bromwich Albion at the weekend certainly didn't make the manager's decision any easier.

But Ferguson is nearing a conclusion about his forward-line, with the Ballon d'Or favourite likely to make room for his fellow Portuguese - and the scorer of United's fourth goal against the Baggies - Nani.

The Red Devils boss insisted that Ronaldo was most in need of a break, as he believes the Seleccao star's early return from an ankle injury has left him fatigued.

"The adrenalin can carry you through the one game, but then the form dips a little bit," Ferguson said in The Sun. "When players have been out for so long there is a little response to playing all the time."
