Paris: French champions PSG have stepped up their interest in Chelsea defender David Luiz according to the Daily Star. The Ligue 1 champions have made an opening offer of £21.5m for the 26 year old, a bid that is sure to get short shrift from the West London side.
Carlo Ancelotti may well be set to leave PSG and the club's Qatari owners will have noted the outlay newly promoted AS Monaco have splashed this summer, having spent over £100m to bring in Joao Moutinho, James Rodriguez and Radamel Falcao, and may feel the need to make some moves of their own.
PSG want Luiz to partner Thiago Silva in the centre of his defence. There has been talk that Jose Mourinho may be willing to sell the former Benfica man but given that the offer made by PSG is less than what Chelsea paid for Luiz two and a half years ago it's fair to say that the French capital club will have to up their bid.
Luiz has made 109 appearances for Chelsea since his January 2011 move to the club.
