A player at the Copa Peru was sent off for urinating in the middle of the match. The bizarre incident unfolded during a clash between Atletico Awajun and Cantorcillo FC at the La Gran Saposoa stadium.
In the 71st minute of the game, Awajun was awarded a corner kick. The on-field proceedings, however, were halted for a few moments as the Cantorcillo goalkeeper, Lucho Ruiz, was receiving medical assistance after suffering an injury. When all of these were going on, Sebastian Munoz was spotted standing alone by the corner flag. He was about to take the set piece for Awajun and was waiting for the game to resume.
As he realised that the opposition keeper would need some more time to get back on his feet, Munoz decided to urinate on the sidelines. His action caught the attention of the referee, who immediately showed him the red card, perhaps considering it as unsportsmanlike conduct. Munoz initially looked baffled and kept asking the official about his offence. The referee put no ear to his request and asked Munoz to leave the pitch.

The moment was captured on the broadcaster’s camera. The video was later dropped on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption– “Is This The Most Embarrassing Sending Off Ever? From the Copa Peru. A red card that has to be seen to be believed.”
This was not the first time that a footballer was given a red card for urinating during a match. Earlier in 2017, something similar happened when Salford City goalkeeper Max Crocombe was sent off during a game against Bradford City AFC.
His offence was initially unclear as the English club shared on X, “Red Card! Crocombe sees red for something off the ball. No one has a clue what has happened.”

Later, the opposition team made it clear via a social media post. “We can confirm that Crocombe has been sent off for urinating during the game. We are not joking,” Bradford City AFC confirmed on X.

There were several instances where players were spared despite doing the same. During a Champions League fixture in 2009, Stuttgart goalkeeper Jens Lehmann peed against the advertising board when the match was underway, according to a report by NPR. He, however, managed to return to the pitch on time and his action went unnoticed.
