Kolkata: Mohun Bagan's winless streak stretched to four matches as Sporting Clube de Goa rode on a Boima Karpeh double strike for a 2-1 win in the I-League at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan here Saturday.
The Liberian-Australian recruit, who was with Pune FC last season, scored in the 17th and 78th minutes while Mohun Bagan struck in the 84th minute through a penalty taken by Eric Muranda. With their second win of the season, the Goans now have seven points, while Mohun Bagan remained on two with two draws and two losses.
Once again, Mohun Bagan missed their Nigerian ace Odafa Okolie who is recovering from an injury as the home side could not exploit the home advantage for a humiliating loss. Mohun Bagan squandered two chances early into the start with C S Sabeeth and Muranda failing to score.
In another match, following a back-to-back defeat at home, Shillong Lajong FC staged a comeback to hold United SC 1-1 in their fifth round I-League encounter at the J N Stadium here.
Lajong players created several scoring chances against their opponents but they could not finish it off on most occasions.
The home side, who dominated the match, failed to convert at least three clear opportunities in a slow first half itself. Ornell Glen and Tuboi missed a couple of opportunities that could have changed the complexion of the game.
United's Eric Browne converted the first goal of the match in the 49th minute when Lajong's main defenders -- Wailadmi and Minchol Son -- were caught napping. United skipper Deepak Kumar collected a miss shot from Son and sent a cross to Browne who converted it with an ease.
