Laporta set to offer Eto'o bumper deal
Samuel Eto'o's situation at Barcelona seems to have come full circle.

New Delhi: Having almost been sold by Barcelona in the summer, Samuel Eto'o is now set to be offered a mega-contract to stay at the club for the rest of his career by president Joan Laporta.

Eto'o's situation at Barcelona has come full circle with club president Joan Laporta keen to offer the striker a contract-for-life only months after being prepared to let him leave.

The Cameroonian goal scorer's current deal at Camp Nou runs out in 2010 and tentative negotiations about an extension have already started in a bid to pave the way for an agreement.

Last summer it was announced that Eto'o would be sold, along with Ronaldinho and Deco, with the club were reported to be looking at a number of replacements, including Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor.

But Laporta has always been a big fan of the former Real Madrid and Real Mallorca forward and it is rumoured that he has defended his corner when others have called for him to be disciplined for various misdemeanors.

That friendship may have been strained before the start of the season, but Eto'o's form and willingness to work hard has been noted and he is fully back into the fold.

Now he is set to be made the club's highest earner if Laporta has his way, although a deal will probably not be reached until the end of the current campaign.

Eto'o has changed his character both on and off the field, performing in a more determined manner under coach Pep Guardiola while forging a better relationship with the media.
