Kerala: As the football world cup nears, the game perhaps has some of its craziest followers in God's own country.

Football world cup might be happening in distant South Africa, but this little town of Malapuram in North Kerala is where the action seems to have reached a fever pitch. Posters, banners and cut-outs is there in every nook and corner of every street. 30 year old Nazeer, an auto driver by profession has painted and has flag of his favourite Argentina team on his body and he has no qualms showing his allegiance openly, even if it means sacrificing his daily earnings.
Every time the World Cup is near, the excitement reaches a crescendo here…. Even expatriate Malyalees plans their vacations at this time. Heavy betting also goes on and this time Argentina and Brazil are the clear favourites… Fans bid anything from around 500 to 1 lakh rupees
Once the World Cup kicks off, even theaters across Malabar will start screening football rather than movies. With every passing game, starts the poojas and prayers from the fans across the town.
