ISL: FC Pune City's Mutu rejects reports of being denied Indian visa
Mutu was axed by Chelsea in 2004 for testing positive for cocaine. He needed an Indian visa to join his new club at Pune.

Adrian Mutu, who has a three-month deal with FC Pune City to play in the Indian Super League, has dismissed reports that he was denied a visa at the Indian embassy in Bucharest that claimed he turned up to apply visibly drunk - sources told IBNLive Sports.

However, confusion still reigns over his participation.

Mutu was axed by Chelsea in 2004 for testing positive for cocaine. He needed an Indian visa to join his new club FC Pune City, who have so far drawn one and lost one match in the ISL. They were thrashed 5-0 by Mumbai FC in their last match on Saturday

Mutu, though, has had a controversial career in professional football.

He received a nine-month ban - later reduced to six months - during his time with the Serie A club Fiorentina for failing a doping test. In August 2011, Mutu and his Romanian team-mate Gabriel Tamas were banned from the national team after they were found drinking in a bar while their team-mates played against San Marino.

He was reinstated to the national team three matches later but was banned once again in 2013 after posting a picture of manager Victor Piturca as Mr Bean.
