Delhi Dynamos defence was seen as one of the best in the Indian Super League so far but on Thursday Goa FC reminded them of not being complacent as the tournament heads towards the business end.
However, the Dynamos are not pressing the panic button just yet with assistant coach Mark Luijpers insisting that the team would bounce back strongly.
Delhi were thrashed 4-1 by Goa in front of home fans, leaving the team at the bottom of the points table with just seven points from eight matches.
"It was a fairly disappointing evening for us. In the beginning, we tried to build pressure on them but then it became 1-0. We were hopeful of coming back but then the goals kept coming, although we tried to be better in the second half. Once Goa scored two goals soon after half-time, the game was obviously gone," said Luijpers in the post match presser.
"I think so far our defence had a great tournament but everyone makes mistakes. We didn't concede too many goal until today and one game is no reason to panic. So we are not panicking just yet," he added.
Luijpers was optimistic about Delhi's chances in the upcoming matches and said that the next match would be a fresh opportunity for his players to re-group and deliver, while adding that the attackers will soon come good and goals will eventually come in.
"We didn't play as a team today. There are a lot of lessons to be learnt from today. But Sunday is a new match and we are going to be prepared for that," he signed off.
