According to reports in Italian media, Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani is expected to undergo a medical on Monday as he completes his move to French champion Paris Saint-Germain from Serie A side Napoli.
Cavani will then reportedly sit down with PSG sporting director Leonardo and other club representatives to finalise the remaining details of the transfer before signing a five-year contract said to net him 10 million euros annually.
The 26-year-old Uruguayan was prolific for Napoli last season, as he fired home 36 goals in all competitions. Chelsea have had maintained a strong interest, after recently-appointed manager Jose Mourinho earmarked him as a prime candidate for strengthening the Stamford Bridge side's attack.
The transfer fee, thought to be worth around 63 million euros, would be a new Ligue 1 record, eclipsing the 60 million euros sum paid by Monaco for Colombia forward Radamel Falcao.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis fired a parting shot on Sunday at Cavani, who topped the Serie A goalscoring charts with 29 goals last season, saying the striker 'was thinking only of money'.
He also claimed Zlatan Ibrahimovic would not stay at PSG next season, saying: "Ibrahimovic won't play with Cavani, he has already been promised to others."
