Barcelona considering options to Villa: Laporta
Barcelona chief has admitted that the club may fail to land the Valencia striker.

New Delhi: David Villa has made his wish to join the Champions League holders public but Barcelona and Valencia have been some distance apart in their valuation of the 27-year-old.

With Valencia willing to accept only a "scandalous" offer for Villa, AS reports that Barcelona's €42 million bid for the player was not even considered by Manuel Llorente, chairman of Los Che.

Joan Laporta has now declared that Barcelona will not go over their budget and are considering other options to bolster their attack.

"We will not stretch the arm more than the sleeve," Laporta told AS.

"We will make the changes we have to make, but the players that are interesting to us, we must get them under reasonable conditions," he said.

"I have always said that Villa is a player that could interest us under some specific conditions, but these have not been met, so we will have to activate other options that are just as valid and we will evaluate which of them can come under the conditions that are interesting to us," said the Barcelona chief.

Laporta insisted that Samuel Eto'o will join up with the rest of the squad during the first pre-season training session on Monday.

"There is nothing going on with Eto'o, he will return because he is a player with a running contract..." Laporta added.
