1. Brazil Nuts

According to Dr Bhavsar eating two to three Brazil nuts can help an individual to maintain and increase selenium intake as effectively as a supplement. Selenium is mandatory for healthy thyroid function. She even added that consuming brazil nuts can help one in preventing as well as managing all kinds of thyroid diseases and the risk of thyroid cancer. It also improves sleep, sexual potency, and brain and heart health. Brazil nuts also help to reduce hair fall, inflammation, blood sugar, high cholesterol and LDL levels.

The expert also shared that the best way to consume dry roasted brazil nuts is by eating them in the morning on an empty stomach.

Pistachios:

Dr Bhavsar wrote that pistachios are full of fibre, minerals, and unsaturated fat that can help keep your blood sugar and cholesterol in check which most thyroid patients struggle with.

She also mentioned, “Roasted and salted pistachios are great for low blood pressure while just roasted are great for reducing high blood pressure. Their fibre and protein can make you feel fuller for longer keeping you away from mindless snacking."

Pistachios also manage thyroid symptoms like constipation, emotional hunger, mood swings, insomnia, dryness and stress. The ayurvedic expert added that the best way to consume them is by having a handful of Pistachios as an evening snack or when one has cravings.
