Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Kush Shah has revealed that he is not quitting the popular sitcom. On Wednesday, News18 Showsha reached out to Shah to ask if he will no longer play the role of Goli in Asit Kumarr Modi’s show. Kush dismissed reports claiming he is quitting TMKOC. “No,” he said and refused to make any further comment.
Rumours of Kush Shah quitting Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah made headlines recently after a fan shared a picture online with the actor and revealed he bumped into the young star in New York recently. The fan claimed Kush told him that he had left TMKOC and was in New York to pursue further studies. “Out of nowhere, I found Kush Shah aka Goli in New York, while on my way to the Statue of Liberty. He told me that he has left the show and is pursuing his studies in New York,” the post read as quoted by ETimes, and left many shocked. However, the user also deleted the picture later from his Facebook handle.
Kush Shah has been a part of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah ever since its beginning. He plays the role of Mr and Mrs Hathi’s son, Goli aka Gulabkumar Hathi.
TMKOC has been running on television for over 15 years now. While Kush must not be leaving the popular sitcom, several other actors have left the show in the past including Disha Vakani, Bhavya Gandhi, Gurucharan Singh, Shailesh Lodha, Neha Mehta and Jennifer Mistry. Most recently, Raj Anadkat, who used to play the role of Tappu in the sitcom, also left the show.
In March 2023, in an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, TMKOC producer Asit Kumarr Modi talked about whether actors leaving TMKOC has become a concern for the makers. Kumar revealed that it is indeed a ‘very big challenge’. He mentioned that even though he tries hard for the actors to stay back, he cannot do anything if they decide to move on. He also took an indirect dig at those who left his show midway and went on to say that people often quit when they ‘get tired of working hard’.
“Some people get tired of working hard, some are associated with the show for so long and therefore want to do something different, there are personal reasons, some want to encash this popularity outside the show,” he had said.
